Robotic Surgery - Look how far we've come in 5 years

In 2009, Greenslopes Private Hospital was the first hospital in Queensland to operate with the da Vinci Surgical System, which offers patients access to the latest technology for radical prostrate surgery.
Today, the robotic surgical team at Greenslopes celebrate over 2000 robotic procedures since launching the surgery.
Some of the benefits of the robot assisted surgery include shorter stay in hospital, less pain and less risk of infection. Patients can expect a faster recovery and return to normal activities in a few days. The robot only needs incisions of less than 1cm compared with an incision of up to 25cm for a traditional radical prostatectomy.
